In cooperation with the ELCA Department for Lutheran Campus Ministry, and two of our partner synods (SWPA and NWPA), this synod supports three Lutheran Campus Ministry sites.  All three are center-based campus ministries.

Congregations of this synod also engage in campus ministry as PICMs.  A PICM (Partner in Campus Ministry) congregation decides which form and what level of campus ministry is most appropriate for the local educational institution and the congregation.  Sometimes it looks very much like the old "contact pastor" system in which the local pastor was available in case of emergency.  Sometimes it is much more intensive, featuring in some setttings local LSM (Lutheran Student Movement chapters) or student lounges or transportation to worship etc..

In some settings, we work ecumenically, cooperating with full-communion partners, institutional chaplaincies, or ecumenical agencies.
 

Lutheran Campus Ministry

Lutheran Campus Ministry at WVU The Lutheran Campus Ministry at WVU has served the academic community in Morgantown, WV, for fifty years, offering worship, edcuation, fellowship, and service opportunities.  A local chapter of the Lutheran Student Movement (LSM) is resident.  It is staffed by a full-time ordained ELCA campus pastor.  The Lutheran Campus Center, located in the downtown campus, includes a chapel building, featuring a sanctuary, lounge, kitchen, and library, and a residential building.

Lutheran University Center of Pittsburgh Serving University of Pittsburgh, Carnegie Melon, Chatham College, and Carlow College, the Lutheran University Center is staffed by a full-time ordained ELCA campus pastor and additional support staff.  The center is located next to the Pitt campus only one block from the Heinz Chapel and features a sanctuary, lounge, and commercial kitchen.  There is a resident Lutheran Student Movement chapter involving students from all four schools.  The campus ministry sponsors the Pittsburgh Compline Choir which sings the compline office Sunday evenings throughout the academic year.

Lutheran Campus Ministry at IUP The Lutheran Campus Ministry boasts a house with chapel, lounge, kitchen, and residential apartments situatued next to the IUP campus.  It is staffed by a full-trime ordained ELCA campus pastor and additional support staff.
