Building on Strength

Synod Parishioner: Do you need us to bail out the campus ministry?  Are you bankrupt?  Are you in trouble?
Chaplain Riegel: No, we're strong, but we could be stronger.  We're doing well, but we could do better.
--Fragment from a focus group held in a synod congregation, 2007

Supporting "Building on Strength"

How to Give
On-Line Giving

It was that conversation which led us to adopt "Building on Strength" as the theme of our capital campaign.  It is easy to assume wrongly that the Lutheran Campus Ministry at WVU comes to you, asking your support, because we are in some way desperate and in need of rescue.  While we might be desperate it is not because we are on the verge of foreclosure.  We are desperate to proclaim the Gospel as articulated in the Lutheran movement.  We're already proclaiming that Gospel in a boldly Lutheran manner, and we are doing it well.  The campus, however, is changing, offering rich new opportunities for mission and ministry.  Consequently, we know that we can build on our strength, reforming the Lutheran Campus Ministry at WVU for a new age, doing what we do well even better, but, to do that, we need your support.

These pages attempt to demonstrate what we are doing and what we could do. We are confident that you will be impressed with the work and life of the campus ministry as it now is.  We are confident that you will be excited by the possibilities presented in the changing landscape at WVU.  We are confident that you will be inspired by our vision and strategy for the future.
