Designated Giving
Designated giving is welcome at the Lutheran Campus Ministry at WVU.  Here are some of our big projects, but the options are not limited to this list.  Contact us if you are interested in anything you see here or about any other ideas you might have.

Old Parsonage => Luther House Conversion

Imagine six students living together in an intentional Lutheran community.  Imagine this community living with the spiritual disciplines of regular corporate prayer, common meals, service to the campus ministry, and common life governed by the Small Catechism.  Now imagine yourself helping to make this possible.

When the Lutheran Campus Foundation received its property from St. Paul Lutheran Church, included on the site was the early twentieth century parsonage.  For years it has served as both student center and small rental unit.  Now, we are redefining its use, establishing a "Luther House."

Renovations began summer '03, but the process isn't quick.  It's not cheap either (est. $80,000).  The old house needed a complete replacement of the plumbing and gas infrastructure as well as a major upgrade to the electrical system.  If it hadn't been for the solid condition of the brick structure and the fine workmanship of the floors, windows, etc., we might have demoed it.  The location, however, is superb, and we couldn't afford to build anything even close to what we have for the same amount as the renovation.

Would you like to help?  Financial contributions, donations of furnishings and appliances, volunteer time and expertise in renovation/restoration are all needed.  Contact us if you are interested.

Chapel Roof

It's hard to imagine, but 2/3 of the chapel roof is original to 1968.  It has outlived its life expectancy and is now being reshingled.  Not wanting to do this again for several years, we are putting 50 year shingles on the chapel.  In addition, we are repairing damaged decking and taking other steps to mitigate water damage.  Starting cost of the project is $40,000.

Arts & Music

Fine art and music stir the soul to contemplation of the Divine.  In the past, we have sponsored concerts of sacred music and displayed Christian art in the Chapel of Christ the King.  Our most recent designated gift of art was the baptismal font which we commissioned from a WVU senior using matching gifts from Lutheran Brotherhood.  We'd like to do more.  Tops on the list would be a large "centerpiece"  icon of Christ the King, but we are open to other ideas.
