Volunteering Time & Talent
Campus ministry is labor instensive--more so than people would imagine--but it isn't blessed with the faithful volunteerism we know in our congregations.  Sometimes we need extra hands, heads, and hearts.  There are many different ways in which volunteers can contribute their time and talent.
Volunteers Wanted

Position: Capital Campaign Advisor
LCM@WVU is authorized to conduct a synod wide capital campaign in 2007.  Looking for someone with experience to advise on early steps of process.

Position: Renovation Overseer
Person wanted to oversee renovation projects (two in progress) to completion.  Involved regular on-site inspection, developing project specs, obtaining bids, and overseeing contractors and volunteers.

Skilled tradespeople.  Carpenters, plumbers, electricians, roofers, etc. are an invaluable resource.  It would be great to have a list of tradespeople that we could call for advice and work.  If you are a skilled tradesperson, and live within a reasonable distance to Morgantown, drop us a line.  We'd love to speak with you.  If you live at a greater distance, we'd still love to speak with you.

Unskilled laborers.  Lawns must be mowed, sidewalks shoveled, plantings tended, rooms cleaned, etc..  If you enjoy this kind of work, it's waiting here for you.

Hospitality helpers.  There are events which require those folk with the gift of hospitality.  Would you be willing to bake cookies, distribute refreshments, or staff an information booth?  Would you be interested in staffing the Lutheran Student Center Lounge for a few hours a semester?  Hospitality is a Christian virtue!  "For in showing hospitality to strangers some have enteretained angels unawares."

Clerical work.  There is a lot of work that goes on behind the scenes.  Since the Lutheran Campus Ministry does  not employ secretarial staff, everything falls to the chaplain and students.  There are mass mailings twice a year (that involves folding and stuffing), new student contact information to process (and track down), etc..

Administrative and professional work.  Fundraising, auditing, legal counsel, technologies support, etc. are also part of campus ministry.  Do you have gifts for this type of work?
