Biloxi Deployment
Biloxi, Convey departs for BiloxiBiloxi, van packedOur first major deployment is to Biloxi, MS, during WVU's Spring Recess.  Departing Saturday morning, March 11, the team began the nearly 1000 mile trek to Biloxi.  At right, you see team members piling into the vans.

Here is the cargo van loaded with sleeping bags and clothing.  What you won't see underneath are the tools and equipment that will be used to help with a variety of recovery tasks.

Moving clockwise...The "Red Tent" where the team bunked during the week.  Tent City (a.k.a. Camp Biloxi) main street.  The shower container box...hot showers!...large enough for 8 showers and 3 sinks.  The dining tent.

Ah, Spring Break on the Beach!  Mike Lembke, Sarah Toth, Bob Pope, and Nancy Pope show off the latest in beach ware with UV protection.



Debbie Borrelli (above left) spent her week on KP.  She is seen here sweeping the dining hall after dinner.  Chaplain Riegel was assigned to chaplaincy duties in the free medical clinic at Bethel Lutheran Church.

Making new friends was one of the bonuses of the deployment.  170+ volunteers were housed and fed at Camp Biloxi.  70+ were housed and fed at Bethel Lutheran Church.  Pictured below, we see Laura Pfeifer conversing over breakfast with one of the other volunteers.  Norly is doing the same with Christian from UNC-Chapel Hill with other members of the UNC-CH team in the background.
