We've tried several different communication media with
varying degrees of success [and failure] all in the attempt to better
serve you. In an effort to improve that service, we are switching our email notification system to Yahoo! Groups. Yahoo! Groups offers an announcements-only, email-based service for disseminating information. A Yahoo! membership is not
required. It is also very easy to join (subscribe) and very easy
to quite (unsubscribe). For sharing the latest news from
the Lutheran Campus Ministry at WVU, this may be the best thing that

Who should subscribe?
Anyone interested in what's happening at the LCM@WVU: (e.g., students,
faculty & staff, alumni/ae, townies, parents, pastors, friends,
supporters...).
How easily can I subscribe?
That's one of the reasons we've switched. Subscribing is as easy as 1-2-3:
Find the "yellow subscription
box" at right.
Enter the email address at which prefer to receive news about the LCM@WVU and hit [RETURN].
You'll get a confirmation email. Respond to that, and you're signed up.

Do I have to be a Yahoo! member?
No! You do not, and don't let anyone tell you otherwise. The email notifications are sent to the email address you specify. Yahoo! membership will give you access to some special features, but you really don't need them.
Will I be plagued with spam?
No! We don't circulate inspirational stories, jokes, chain
letters, etc.. This service is strictly for news related to the
LCM@WVU. Only communiqués originating from the list moderator(s)
(i.e., authorized LCM@WVU staff) will be sent.
What about confidentiality?
The only info that is required from you is your email address. You don't have to give us your name, SSN, age, gender, etc.. Since this service is provided through Yahoo! Groups, its privacy policies and mechanisms also apply. We won't share your information.
Can I promote this service?
Absolutely! The easiest way is to share this page by sending it or emailing
its URL (http://www.LutheranMountaineer.org/l-serv.html) to your
friends. You can also add a link to this webpage to your own
website. Add the "subscription box" (supra) to your church's website or your personal website is also doable. The HTML code for the box can be found at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/LutheranMountaineer/promote. If you can't access it, contact us, and we'll send it to you.
Your information will not be shared with any other organization or entity
without your consent.
To further preserve your privacy, the Yahoo! Groups uses "blind"
addressing. Your address will not appear on the mail header for
others to read.
We practice "safe computing." We use eTrust Antivirus software in addition to the antivirus software employed by WVNET and Yahoo!.
If for any reason you suspect that we have been infected on this end,
please notify us promptly. You will only get a virus warning from
us if we suspect that we have been infected.
LutheranMountaineer is not an open platform. Only the owner/administrator/moderator can send information via this medium.
We do not forward inspirational stories, jokes, chain letters or other items of similar nature.
